The What
The Who
The Why

Hi!

Highly sensitive veterinary student here.

You know when you talk to your friend about a big feeling or an intense experience only to be met with a blank look and a “Can’t relate.”? No, you can’t relate either? That’s okay. I’m here because I can relate to the intensity, the isolation, and the overwhelm.

I’ve lived a lot of my life feeling overwhelmed and believing that I didn’t belong. My world seemed unfathomably more intense than many of the people’s around me and it frequently manifested into a dramatic presentation that made me feel isolated.

In sharing my experiences with you, I hope to foster that “I can relate” feeling. I believe that connection and belonging (Brene Brown fangirl here) are essential for living a life of purpose. If I am not feeling connected then I have even bigger feelings, I am less authentic, and I start to hustle for worthiness (uh oh, there’s BB again). As a Type A, highly sensitive, [recovering not recovered] perfectionist, this is a dangerous place for me to be. And I doubt I am alone in this. So here’s my human experience. Take what works for you and leave the rest.

What To Expect and What Is Expected

Be kind all ways, always. Especially to yourself.

I believe there is healing in story telling. These are my stories, not my advice.

If you feel inspired to share your story, I encourage you to do so. I ask that you, too, take care to not give advice.

I am honored that you are sharing your space with me. My commitment of “no response” is a reflection of gratitude for your story. You deserve to have your story held just as it is. No judgments. No opinions.

Some of my stories may feel heavy. It is not your responsibility to hold the burden. I ask that you honor your experience and step away if it doesn’t feel safe.
